Little Brother's wedding - Trader's Hotel

I attended my little brother - Guangjin's wedding lunch last sunday at Trader's Hotel. That was my first time to the hotel. The food was so-so. But the company was excellent. I caught up with my sec school classmates and enjoyed the catching up. I am very happy for him and Alicia (the bride).

With groom - Guangjin, whom I knew for 18 years....(still counting)

Groom and Bride - Alicia, with Annabelle & Yanni

With Raymond, long lost friend since JJC. He happened to know Guangjin in Ngee Ann and Larry from Army. Complicated eh?

Raymond, Annabelle, Me, Yibiao, Kehua, Yanni, Jianfeng and his family.

So who is next? I dunno...

Our 2nd fountain of wealth

We bought our second fountain of wealth at Farm mart - Lim Chu Kang Road. Our first one is spoilt for a long time. We decided to buy today. Been to a lot of places but the shop at Farm mart did not disappoint us. We are very pleased with this simple design and on top of that, we also bought 2 plants whose leaves are in the shape of a copper coin. Now we are just waiting for it to flourish and bring us some wealth during this recession.

My Christmas Tree

This is my 2008 Christmas tree decorations. It is also my first time to give out 60 presents to my colleagues! I break my own record. I have also received some presents already. But I do not want to open them till at 25 Dec midnight. I carried some back from the office but there are still some more on my table. My house was very messy with the presents and wrappers. It was also challenging to bring the presents to office over 4 days. I do hope all my receivers are happy to receive a little token from me. Till then.

My first Stanchart 10km marathon

Today, we participated at the annual Standard Chartered Bank marathon. Of course, we ran the 10km, not the full marathon. Sylvia, my hubby, cousins - Jacelyn and Terence and I went. It was our first time participating. The guys ran first at 7.30am, while ladies ran at 8.15am. Collection of the goodie bag prior to the event was a nightmare. Sylvia and I took half day leave and went to Singapore expo and queued for an hour before we got it. Total participants who took part were 50,000!! WOW!

With Jacelyn - before the race....

With Sylvia- at the starting point...

We completed the race!! Check it out.

*Muack muack*

Our group photo

The guys completed the race about an hour or so. The girls took longer - almost 2 hours. I did not expect that I can run non-stop for 4 hours. At the ECP, I stopped as the sun was too glaring. I walked till suntec's first drinking stop and ran again after drinking 100 plus. I stopped again at the F1 area... then I started running again at the Surpreme Court and dashed to the finishing line. Now my knees are in pain. Tomorrow, my muscles will ache... My cousins will be taking part in the 21km next year. I shall stick to 10km. hahaa. I am so glad that it is a public holiday on monday. Poor hubby, he has to work.

Homecooked Food

My two girlfriends cum colleagues came to my house last sunday to cook lunch for me. Envious right? I was too sickly and hubby not around to cook. Haiz! But I am happy that they came to help me.

The two chefs - Liza and Sylvia

Chicky drumlets

Watery spagetti. (such a waste)

3 of us. They like my wall.

Another of my best friend, Evelyn came to cook for me today. Again, envious right?
Cooking mee hoon.

Yummy right!

Minced pork with spinach for dinner.

Omelette with Sausage.

Good friends are real hard to come by. Went through thick and thin, laughter and tears. See the things they have done for me. I thank them from the bottom of my heart. I really wonder how could one turn its back on me without a reason? I wish I can find out the answer real soon.

Reflections

I used to hear from people who said life is short and do treasure family and friends who are close to you. I could not agree more, especially from someone who had their surgery. Our perceptions and attitudes towards life became more precious and different. Other things do not seem to matter much anymore.

One word of advice - do eat whatever food that is provided for you after surgery. The feel of hunger for more than 10 hours was of no joke. I rejected the food and was very helpless when hunger kicked in.

I had a week of porridge and hope my hubby will buy me other things for lunch tomorrow.

Finale of Graduations

Yesterday was the last graduation for 2008, ie University of Bradford at Raffles City Convention Centre. It was the biggest graduation with about 1400 graduands and guests! One of the moments that moved me to tears was one of the student could not received her award as she has passed away. Her mother received on her behalf and we had 1 minute of silence....

Below are some candid moments that I would like to share..

Subra - EH.. wait for me...

Tongue competition

Nhalie the joker...
After note:
The graduations were eye opener experiences for me. I got to try out different roles, like leading the procession parties, marshall, ursher, manning booth, etc. Next year, I will be in the graduation committee. Wish me luck!
P.S. Our school song is really nice..can someone pass me the mp3 version for my handphone tune?

Wedding anniversary

Yesterday was our 3-years anniversary. It was indeed a memorable day for us. A visit to the gynae (spent a bomb) , lunch at Sushi Tei, bought books at Kinokuniya and shopped at Takashimay tired us easily. We went home at about 4pm and took a nap.

We cannot wait to eat the food....
We had KFC for dinner... hehe...

Presents from colleagues

My hubby brought me to have lunch at Soup Restaurant on my birthday. We watched 2 movies that afternoon - Storm Rider and 20th Century Boys (Part 1 of 3). Very good! Must watch.

At the strike of midnight, I opened up my other presents. The grey bag was given by my colleagues - Sylvia, Liza, Lisa, Amy and Shalini. Nice... my type of bag.. big and glossy.

Then the other present - the Omnia mobile pouch was given by Kenneth . I would prefer the original one, but he told me no stock for the whole of Singapore! Haiz. My hubby, mother in law and dad gave me ang pao... the most practical of all.

To express my most sincere thanks, I gave each of them, a lollipop with small craft.

The birthday cake was baked by my best friend - Belle. So VERY nice of her..

Taken with my closest kin and friends.

Annual Birthday Gathering

Last sunday was our yearly birthday gathering with my friend, Lay Foo... ever since 14 years ago. We will meet halfway between our birthdays. This year, we went to AMK Hub for lunch and subsequently at MacDonald Drive-Thru...

I was hilarious what I saw at the playground near the MacDonald's. SWING!! The same one that I used to play during childhood, with sands. We had a go and became Lay Foo's FOC models. LOL

This was taken using Lay Foo's Canon SLR. We really look great, dont you think so?

We finally have the chance to take a photo together after 14 years!!

Happy Birthday my dear fren Lay Foo!

Need a nice break

My hubby took this at Angsana Spa earlier. I like the colour of this pillow. In addition, I looked real nice with this shot. So lady-like!! How I wish I can go for another spa session soon. Today, I just received my first incentive and treated my SM dinner at Sakae Sushi, thanking him for the guidance and hard-work put in. Postgrad rocks!!

Our Bintan Trip - Sept 08

After a long long wait, finally we managed to go out of Singapore for the very first time in 2008. Why har? Last year, we have gone for 3 trips already by Sept 07. This is really crazy. No wonder we are panaroid!!!

Where we went? To Angsana Bintan Resort & Spa. Over a long weekend, though just an hour from Singapore by ferry, the feeling was just great, except for the "freedom" I received from my workplace.

Taken from the window panel at the restaurant

My funny hubby striking a pose.

"Dont mess with me...."

What did we do? Sleep, eat, sleep, eat, swim, spa..... We are so demoralised to come back to Singapore as we have to face the reality again. At the tanah merah ferry terminal, there was this ang moh at the ferry terminal taxi stand who dared to tell me off for cutting the taxi queue... please lor... we called the cab. So pissed!
